A few weekends ago I thought it would be fun to go to Subic to visit the zoo, cleverly called Zoobic. My friend V accompanied us along with Coco’s yaya. Subic is supposed to be about 2 hours north of Manila on the NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) though you never know with traffic. It’s a decent highway if you know where you are going but don’t make a wrong turn or try to guess which exit you need cause you will surely get lost. Things just aren’t clearly marked! Our two hour trip turned into almost four! Grrr. By the time we got there we were tired and hungry and cranky. We found a Korean restaurant near our hotel and sat on the floor for our meal. Coco brought along Izzy, her classroom iguana mascot who goes home with a different child every weekend. What a fun weekend for Izzy to spend with Coco! He loved the zoo. 🙂
The first thing we did when we arrived was go on a tour. Coco loved feeding the birds. She really was enjoying it, she just frowns when she’s concentrating on things. Those birds were so small and so cute and were scattered all over the ground. It was hard not to step on them but they warned us that it would be a 500 peso charge if we did! The birds flocked to Coco and ate right out of her hand. One landed on my foot and pecked at my shoe. LOL Then we took a ride to see more animals. Here we are waiting for it to start: Later we went on a safari ride. It lasted all of about 5 minutes (lame) but in that 5 minutes we saw some tigers. You could feed them chicken through the window which is what you see happening in one photo. We opted to not do that. I don’t want sharp tiger teeth so close to me and my baby! We were watching it lick it’s lips when it jumped on the vehicle in front of us! That was pretty funny. Waiting for our safari..
It was worth the trip. Long, hot, and very tiring but she had fun. And so did we. 🙂
